So…this is my first designologue - be kind! I’m thinking there are a lot of possible ways this can go…

Sketchygirl, this is beautiful. I like that I was forced to learn more about “The Inferno of Dante Alighieri” before I commented, since I’m not familiar with it off the top of my head.

I’m strangely drawn to the vector shape at the bottom right corner. I’m not sure if I disapprove of it as it’s the only smooth part of the composition (aside from the silhouette). Everything else has texture except this piece, and I’m wondering how justified it is.

A 13th century writer going straight to hell; am I rigth?

Is this the beginning where he’s lost in the woods?

Not really lost in the woods so much as an intro…like, “Hey I’m Dante, whatup.” I was sort of thinking…8 possible images, 7 deadly sins - If you’re pickin’ up what I’m throwin’ down.

Oh and as for the vector being the only smooth part, I was sort of playing with the different shades of black and decided I liked the stark contrast of texture and color. But yeah, I can see how it might be a little distracting.

hey sketchy, sorry I’m taking forever, but i figured i should actually read the book first. ;p or at least enough of it to be able to talk about it.

I like what you’ve got goin here. the contrast between the old looking print in the background and the sharp vector. the minimal color

and using the rings of hell as a stargate-portal kinda thing’s clever.
plus it reminds me of Havoc from x-men…and that’s cool.

You would pull up a comic reference in this discussion… you mega-geek you

i don’t see the vector as so out of place, though i would’ve liked to see the arc match that of the circular element in the design.. not that it bugs me at all.. nice image!

1st circle of hell limbo home of the unbaptized and the world’s greatest hot dog.

thats Something magnificent, nice work Lincoln.

Superb. This is what I meant by integrating the vector shape. Although untextured, it fits seamlessly with the scene. Speaking of texture, the landscape is extraordinary. Bravo.

makes me feel like im going blind…

Dreamy Feel to this one , Luv it

I just noticed what appears to be the dark, demonic ruler, nice touch.

i love it. such an awesome feel to it. i especially like how you brought in the circles from the first image. i find myself getting right up to the screen so i can try to make out details… the image literally pulls me in.

great response. i”m looking forward to the rest of this logue.

Isn’t this exciting? My first post! Alright, the excitement is pretty one-sided but I’m goin’ to run with it anyway.

This image has got GRAVITAS. I don’t really know what that means but this picture is what that means to me. Really evokes a sense of place. I wouldn’t mind a dip in the water myself but I’m not going near that freaky mountainside. Wonderful contrast to the first image and at the same time the subtle rings in the water (among other things) seem to make them relate like distant cousins (who grew up on different continents).

I think I prefer IMG01 to IMG02, although they’re both great. I find that arc has become more disconcerting in IMG02 though, which may be a good thing considering the theme, if you catch my drift.

This is what happens to people who have pre-marital sex.

Lust…it will bite you in the ass every time.

what!?!? pre-marital sex is a sin?!?!? Oh man I am so screwed. At least there are hot, loose women laying around in this part of hell ;D

So, wait… which thing happens to me? I get stripped naked and told to lie down while covering my face? Or I become a bit translucent and have my facial features stripped away, with lines drawn through me like so many maps? I suppose either fate is worth the sex…

IMG 02 is quite shocking. I’m reminded a bit of Dave McKean (you love me now, don’t you!) and I’m also reminded of how little I can use any of my graphic programs! IMG 03 only solidifies that notion (no pun on the solidified lava intended there).

I really like the stain in the IMG 01 background, but the edge of that stain starts to stand out as it moves to the left. Whether or not that’s authentic, it makes the stain look fake. Just an observation…

I heart solidified lava

The stain in image one is a real stain.

Speaking of stains.

Lincoln has become a stain in my ass. Or an ass stain. Definitely an ass stain. What a loafer.
