Designologue

I must say, I enjoy this image very much, it is quite wicked indeed. I think it would have been even cooler if you could have darkened a “wine” or two in the background ones, just to give an illusion of, well…wickedness. They wouldn’t look so flat. But anyway, I like it. Nice job.
Thanks! I wanted the wicked part of the image to be ‘foggy’ and in the background, as in: coming-but-not-quite-there-yet (the girl has no clue at all at this point). I experimented with degrees of Gaussian blur to try and get the foggy/depth look and feel. But you’re right, it still looks a bit flat. Next time, however…!
What makes this wicked, exactly?
My grandfather always used to say: “If you see something with tentacles, and it’s coming towards you, get the f*ck out of there.” But if you are thinking along the lines of ‘Hey, that’s not wicked, that’s just a part of an inner ear!’ I’d understand, because that’s exactly what those things are. But let’s say, for desingologue’s sake, that I made an image, with a little girl in it, and that she’s unaware of the fact that something is approaching, and it ain’t a pack of cute little puppies. :-)
i think it’s a cool image, but i never would have known that something was approaching. the stuff in the back looked like plant life to me… i assumed she was standing on the fringe of a swamp or something.
do i see text in there? what does it say?
I noticed that too (the text i mean) but i didn’t use any, it’s just texture.
oh no, I kinda liked her!
What just happened here?!? The cutting out of the elements is poorly done… and the red I don’t like it. Seems just pasted on top.
Bradbury this way comes! Very nice!
nice. this is my favorite of the series so far. for me, it fits the theme the best.
i dont know if that insect goes with the image very well.. but otherwise.. kinda cool
I really like image 3, it was a great save. Image 4 much better then 2. Now image 5 looks great. I agree that the bug is odd…
Well gents, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. As for the bug…myes…well…euhm.
Yea the bug looks odd but its still very good. My favorite so far is image 3, image 2 looked terrible in comparison to the others, imo.
actually, the hat of the guy is squirming with bugs, but that detail got lost in the subsampling (I always work in a A4-like 300 ppi document, saves me the trouble of crying when I come up with something I like, but can’t use it down the road because I was working in 72 ppi ), so the shoulder bug was making a bit more sense before the rest of them were squashed :-)
As to the reason why I put bugs in there: I was thinking of something out of a Tom Waits song (‘The Earth Died Screaming’), he sings ‘And locusts take the sky’ and I always liked that line because it promises pain and disaster and evil in biblical proportions. So I figured when something wicked comes to town, it would probably bring some pest or plague along for the ride.
Is this battle just stopping here? c’mon, keep it going!
Ohsoquiet? Where are you? The audience wants you!
to be honest i kept meaning to come back to it, but was busy then i honestly forgot once i got back to school. it’s been hectic around here these days, but i promise i’ll have one up within a week, i’ll try even sooner.
ooh! sweet!
nice
is that katherine zeta jones?
i like the image. reminds me of a target ad, or other modern yumminess. i like it. (doesnt make me thing of ‘wicked’ tho)
no it’s some random asian girl, that reminded me of the first girl in the first image. it’s wicked because that ominous bug from the last picture is coming this way with his hoard of evil followers, or at least that was my intention. i made it into a candy man movie, i guess.
