Designologue
thats great!
I’m not going to rate this until I get more info about the theme. So there.
I’d rather not know. What happened to your sense of adventure Mike?
Remember that time we decided to have one for the road, I ordered two and the bartender-ess thought I meant two each? Riding home in the back of Jay’s pick-up, when we arrived I rolled out over the side of the of the bed and landed on my head. But thanks to the “two for the road” I didn’t even feel it.
That’s what this designologue is about :D
Omigod…yeah. I had nearly completely forgotten about that night. Sheesh. The life of an R.A.
I love adventure. Adventure is fun. But it’s hard to rate an image ‘based on aesthetic quality and conceptual relevance’ when I am unaware of the concept. I just want to be fair.
What did we have that night? Shots of Hot Damn! was it?
Good post, Lincoln!
Creighton - I’ll often wait for a few posts before I rate something - I hear ya!
So he never made it past the street. What a wuss.
like father like son, I guess…his parents are still there too…probably covered in cobwebs by now.

The new neighbors seem awfully familiar. Seems like everyone can afford a home these days.
Your illustrations never cease to amaze me. Nice work, it really keeps the dialogue going.
Thanks, rev!
Yeah, I have to hand it to the Bearskinrug. Your illustrations are always on the money. Keep up the illness.
This is the Alfred Hitchcock to Safety First’s Wes Craven. Nice touch with the ghoulish reflections.

I’ve got your revolving right here. (Lincoln grabs crotch and shakes hips in a circular motion)
“up ahead a truck’s carrying a wide load, a pre-fab house cut in half cute little front door and 2 windows lord, not sure whether to cry or should I laugh you see I broke a home up myself once, as I stumbled to that door I read that note by the dawn’s light, said “don’t you come round here anymore”
-Martin Sexton’s Freedom of the Road
I told Bharper about what I was doing for this one and he told me about this song
Beautiful line quality, evocative palette and dry wit are why I gave this image a 4. Jeez Lincoln (looking at post times), do you sleep?
This image is kick ass! One of my favorites, ever.
Wow! Fantastic job, Lincoln - I love it!
exquisite!
that image fits my mental image of that song, and the emotion of that event so well.. good work!
This is sweet! 4 stars :D
You two have created such a convincing space. I feel I could walk around this sparse, creepy neighborhood and know where things would be. I could almost place where those strange people watching the guy on the sidewalk from frame 4 would be in frame 5. And the truck would have been just out of view from the frame of the window. From each change in perspective, a new part of the story is revealed. The “revolving” part of theme is literally translated with the way our point-of-view revolves around this neighborhood and it’s characters.
Bravo.
Mad props to Lincoln! this is quite possibly your best work yet! keep on with the creepiness!
I love the lighting!
hey don!!
woooooow! the depth of field great, the scene is eerie..nice stuff lincoln…
Yo! That’s my old house. Where did they take it? WTF
I didn’t really like this ‘Logue before today… I didn’t understand it (I haven’t even rated it yet). But it’s all starting to make sense to me now. You can almost draw a map of the neighborhood, and point to the house of each creepy neighbor. I’m officially engaged.
I can’t believe it’s not butter.
I have to say that this is the best dsnlg image from Lincoln thus far…very close to my favorite image on this site for that matter.
I could rant and rave about the quality of composition, color, line, and other essential design elements that make this good — but overall it’s the development of this story-like aspect to the entire dnslg — really giving it a personality and beyond-the-image quality that’s pushing this one.
I want more. Give me more. This is delicious.
Now I like this image. Revolving Home. That is exactly what comes to mind to me when i see this image.
This is my favourite ‘logue I have seen so far, it is nice to see some tactile images. I just think that an awful lot of contempory design is too shiny and computer generated. Too many gradients etc. I really like the qaulity of these images (from 1-6).

Lousy neighbors. The moment your parents die and your house gets towed away they use your empty lot for recreation.
I love it! I especially like the action lines/smears/ink blots!
That’s so Fucking HOT!
That is sweet. it reminds me of Ed Gorey or Tim burton. I love all that stuff. I say again that this is my favoutrit designologue ever.
Bearskin returns? Triumphant is he who illustrates inconsiderate ghouls playing tetherball. Any chance you have a T:SNLG in the works? That would be hott.
Have you ever played SERIOUS teatherball? It’s an intense and very demanding sport.
P.S.
Bearskin - I just took a look at the new version of your site and it’s too good for words. You are my HERO.
Just did a little google search on theRug… damn, didn’t realize you were world famous.
bearskin.. I have speant like 45 minutes on your site.. I am SO very inspired by your work. It is both original and styleish.. and highly creative and very engaging and emotianly satisfying.. and I am just very inspired.
p.p.s If you ever wanna do a dsnlg with me, i’d be thrilled.
I like the new look of the site as well …
I wish I had 1% of the talent you have.
Apparently, nobody realized that the fifth Beatle walks among us. Will you ladies stop wailing? I’m trying to enjoy the music. ;D
la la la… I can’t hear you…
/and what’s up with that 1% shit Jeromius? You got skeelz.
RAWK! just when I was starting to think this logue was gonna creep to a stop, ya come back with more wonderful creepiness. greatness. he who gives this one a 3 shall taste my wrath.
when I was in 5th grade, I had a crush on this girl, Brooke, and ended up spending most recesses playing tetherball with her and 5 other girls when I was ‘sposed to be playing basketball with the guys. player or sissy? you decide I walk a thin line.
oh and your site is bigger than jesus
Dude - I’d take tetherball with a hottie over playing basketball with a bunch of awkward gangly boys ANYDAY.
You’re a total player Lincoln.
By the way - I had a crush on a girl named Brooke. We used to play Yahtzee together (she lived across the hall from me in college). One day, she lost one of the dice, which was the end of playing Yahtzee.
Do you know what you do when that happens?
You make out.
Hah - thanks for the comments gents! bearskin blushes and gives thumbs up
Just kidding - Sorry for my hiatus. I planned to finish all my designologues eventually. I just had a big backlog of stuff I needed to get done (site redesign included). Seems I missed a bunch of stuff - what’s this threadless designologue now, inman? I suppose I should check out the faq.
And thanks for the kudos, ben - and the link on yahooray. Are you sure you wanna do a designologue with a guy who wanders off for six months? :) Seriously, I just might take you up on it after this ‘log finishes. In the meantime, I’ll begin my hourly harrassment of Lincoln to post something…
Lincoln…
You gonna post something….?
Geez…
Yeah, no shit Lincoln. Get your ass in gear.
Bearskinrug, holy b’jesus. This image is rocking my cock off. The suspended action and wonderful line quality are only enhanced by your treatment of the background. I can’t’ describe how it feels really — like a distorted looking glass of some sort — flat background elements that feel like they’re part of one of those things that you put in a kid’s room that has a light bulb in the middle and the light shines through a stencil-like thing that casts light on colored translucent pieces of plastic…and all of that rotates. Okay, it totally doesn’t resemble that, but it feels like something I know but can’t put my finger on it. I don’t know what I’m saying, I just adore what you’ve done here.
And your site also rocks my cock. Now I have to spend the next hour not being productive so I can talk a walk through your newest masterpiece.
And Lincoln, hurry up with that next image.
Uh, Lincoln? Hallooooo? :P
This is absolutely excellent. Kudos to both artists.
Thanks creighton - my goal has always been to rock cocks!
Ooh. That sounds different than what I meant…
pull at collar and gulp
Hey, any chance this dsnlg can get some love? I’m totally blown away.
Of course, if you finish it, then it will be over, and that would be sad.
I believe it is Lincoln’s turn ahem slacka
I wouldn’t take so long if Bearskin didn’t keep upping the par, damn it. makin me keep up and all. quality shmality besides, I’ve been waiting for you to get your arcade on for months.
but, i’m actually working now, i have an excuse. constantly, i might add. too much freelance
whoa. this whole dsnlg is amazing - like i’m reading some twisted children’s book…humorously ghouly. i love it.
OMG that’s frickin awesome!
brilliant, nice finish Lincoln.
yeah, that’s bloody brilliant.
Sweetness! I’ll be giving a lecture at an upcoming design symposium in NC. There’s a gallery too and since I’m going to be talking about Designologue I’m going to print out a number of them. I need to include this one. You gents mind? Credit where credit is due of course…
North Cackalacky? I wanna go.
Im going to sorely miss this one when its over… Really stellar work the whole way through. Damn!
Awesome, Lincoln! No more tether for anyone!
When are you speaking, inman? I might be able to finish this thing up before you need to show it…
End of February but I need to have the pieces for the gallery by the 12th. There’s going to be a book published about the show and gallery so it could be good exposure.
I’ll be choosing unfinished ones too as a sort of draw to the gallery viewers to seek out the site, so there’s no need to rush.
Great work!! It gives every ‘log a level to aspire to…
could that be the top rated dsnlg?
I love it
You could make a fucking poster out of this dsnlg.
This shite rocks… Probably one of the best designologues ive seen, every response integrates well and the style is great. All the images have a lot of depth to them which works to create the gloomy type environement.
The only thing i would say is the type lets it down abit, but the illustrations more than make up for it.
very very nice…

Coincidence is constantly wrestling with Change.
Here’s to you, Lincoln - I had a ball!
Holy shit!
I’m digging the saturation and how the entire conversation came full circle. One question though (and then I’ll go back to feeding the bear), what’s the story with guy and the ball? What’s that rope/string attached to?
I like this image a lot. It actually poses a number of questions. Like are we physically back at the beginning with the balding gentleman returning to claim what once was his? Or has he finally scaled the wall and descended only to find a muddy reflection of his own life. Is this past or future?
Really can’t contest the quality here.
It’s the end of an era…you promise to come back, right BSR?
Well, it’s the tetherball. How do you think he got over that big wall? On further consideration, I wish I drew the rope as broken…
Now, as for coming back, I still got Contrast to finish, chum…
that’s perfect. Bearskin. get on AIM so I can talk to you about it (and conspire against taco)
fantastic ‘logue. fair play guys!
Holy Shit!
Holy shit is right. I just realized this designologue was started almost a year ago…
Holy shit!
Fantastic. Easily my favorite DSNLG on here. And I can’t believe it spanned over the course of an entire year. Doesn’t seem that long, really. Guess it was paced well…and the time spent on it shows in its quality.
Now do another one! Ha.
very nice…
thought i’d post in here to call attention to this amazing logue… just in case some of the newer people around here have overlooked it.
Sweet mother, you guys are too good.
o_O
This is absolutely amazing. Excellent job, you two.
I’m struck thinking of Pink Floyd’s The Wall (some of this art reminds me of Steadman), in that the album ends with a little refrain (barely audible, in fact) that the album begins with, implying that there’s a cycle at work and we’ve only experienced one time through an endless, terrifying process.
Now, can suspenders man kick as much ghoul ass as the bald guy in a suit? Can suspenders man even make it over the wall!? And if aging is an automatic part of landing on the other side of the wall (as the transition from image 2 to 3 implies), what’s going to happen to suspenders man, someone already a touch old? And my, how the parents on the porch have aged, too!
most appealing illistrative styles ive seen in a while ~ beautifly mixed as well
you pay the quarter, you get on the horse
