Designologue
Crikey! Nice start!
:D
not too keen on this image, purely taste based though. It seems a bit old hat. It is very much like the art work from Exterminator era Primal Scream. Nice execution though.
thanks.
i’m a new member, and ii haven’t browsed through the old designologues yet, my connection here at work is too slow at the moment.
primal scream is actually one of my favourite bands. :) so yeah, i might have been a bit inspired.
welcome!
this seems to be a common topic. so, i thought i’d give you some historic references.
i personaly am not terribly crazy about this type of imagery. I am more of a pascifist.
I see this type of image as akin to a catholic posting a picture of the cross. It almost feels like a pure endorsement, rather then art. But that’s just my opinion. I’ll waite and see wwhere you gys take it.
don’t get me wrong.
i’m a pacifist, and i’m 100% against violence.
honestly, i didn’t think much through the theme title, but i think this will evolve into something a bit more introspective than pro/against war.
a pilot is a person in control, an he’s got a lot of responsibility. even more so if he’s piloting a (fighter) jet. i was listening the notwist song “pilot” (which refers to trains, but. :P) when i posted the theme to conn75, which goes:
“now he’s trying the whole day to switch off time by causing train delay” and “could be enough if only we are pilots once a day”
oh, and i really think jets and pilots look kickass. :D although the context here is a bit ironc, much in the same vein as the primal scream imagery.
hrm.
maybe i should have included some text in the image. :)
well, it’s a good idea to give us some indicaiton of how your feeling or going with an image. so we know what your intentions are. i feel more at ease with this one, now that i’ve heard something about it from you.

Does every pilot, whether armed forces or civilian, wonder before every flight whether they’ll come back or not? Or do they have complete faith in their machines and never once contemplate not returning?
This first image is beautiful, though Im still not sure if I understand the concept. It just looks like those little jets are attacking that guys head.
I like this second image too, partly because I like that song! But you should know that your I’m is wrong… It should be Im (the curvy little rather than the straight one. A little hard to tell the difference at this size, but its actually a different character).
Sorry, just a pet peeve.
It is the correct character. That is how that particular typeface has it, unfortunately.
now this, i like ahundred times more. this is nice.
Quality image…I really like the accentuated color scheme.
This may be the fastest designologue I have ever seen. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing. I do not feel that a great deal of thought is going into these images, and that is coming through in each design.
Handling and care with photo manipulation, type treatment and concept seem rushed.
I love sentences with that that in them. Especially from Grammarvictim.
Yesmen say what what
I always find myself writing that that happens to me all the that that time.
Boy, you two are really stretching to find things to get at fv about.
lol
LOL, indeed. Grammarvictim, hehe.
yeah, i think the that that is the least of my problems in that post. i don’t think anything is grammatically correct.
well now some of it isÉ;D
hehe..
it’s SOOO funny. i was reading what taco wrote, and then posted my response… and then, i was like oh crap, FV said something, and then taco and i consequtively made fun of it.. we are in for a round of he-said , she-said.
anyway, it was unintentional.
and i really really realllllly do use that that in sentances..
that is what i do…
Speaking of writing related issues… “consequtively”
hehe
Is that like some sort of french slang???
I just thought that that was a cool thing to point out since Grammarvictim is always getting on to people for their spelling errors. I don’t think that that was supposed to be an insult. I saw that that sentance said that that and I was like what what then the car horn in my head went toot toot when I saw a cool rapper on TV with some bling bling I got dressed up like bam bam and ate some fruity pebbles.
i wasn’t offended at all. my grammar was horrific in that post. i think it’s pretty funny.
my spelling sux big bux.
I think you guys are putting together some good looking images. I would like to see a more varied exploration of this theme, though. Does Pilot vs. Jet have to yield JUST airplane-related imagery?
well, it IS a very airplaney theme.. i don’t know. let’s see what conn comes up with. :)
Fair ‘nuff…
I really like that photo!! Is that stock or did you take it?
which photo?
yeah, most of the images i’ve used are stock. i threw in some personal photos for grunge.
not to mention, hysterical!
I’ll agree with you on the messy part.
It’s Friday night. If you can’t have a bit of fun on a Friday night, when can you?
Saturday night.
Sunday too, if you’re lucky.
conn75 I like your last image the best out the three you have done… Just needed a element from image 5 in there.
i think the element from image 5 is actually there… in both images you are looking out a window on a jet - at the engine.
He also carried over the “Please fasten your seatbelts” and the red bar from the previous image. Actually, it looks like all the text from the right side is still in there.
this logue is phuckn nice, what happened to the endnig…
a couple of images from stock-xchng and a lil’ blending and colours..
