In the beginning there was only chaoz.
That looks highly ordered to me.
looks like villi is on a yellow kick these days…
i like it.
Guess I have some yelllow issues I need to sort out.
I’m with bharper. I don’t see the chaoz.
I think the colours are great and the image as a whole is well executed. I won’t comment on the order and the chaoz, or the seemingly lack thereof, just in case I mess up the return volley… ooer… now that’s a preemptive cop-out if ever I heard one ;)
Mallficia, lesson number two, no one is EVER with bharper. Not even bharper. He’s just a rabble-rouser. For shame B, for shame.
Just to be difficult, I don’t see the order :P
While I tend to agree with you inman, if you hadn’t noticed, that’s the second or third time TODAY alone that people have been on my side. Im on fia
Waite a second, you think I say what I say “JUST” to be a rebel rouser? I mean seriously, this image is far far far from chaotic. It’s nice, but not chaotic. Especialy that tatoo looking shape in the very center. Very specific and non chaotic.
Yes, but who knows what chaos lurks within..
So far the imagez in most designologuez feature some kind of order because we’re dealing with themez. But when designerz’ interpretationz of the themez deal with chaoz, then it’z almost like there’z no theme at all. This particular theme of finding order in the madnesz iz an age-old issue. Very academic and fundamental. Except for the fact that “chaos” is spelled with a freaking S!!
Is Image One Suppost to Be graffiti Style?
i see letters….
Gorilla, i think they know how to spell chaos, you know how trendy those z’s are…..
Is this fookin chaotic enough? :)
LOL. Yeah, that’s pretty chaotic, Villi.
Wish it didn’t feel so flat.
order in chaoz or chaoz in order?
This is based on Ishihara’s colour blindness tests (and see this too).
You can see 2 different versions by pressing Apple+Alt+Ctrl+8 (Mac OS X), which version is order and chaoz is up to you.
**Sorry, I don’t know the Win XP equivalent of that accessibility keyboard shortcut.*
wtf? dood - decrease the dosage or pass it around! :D
Diggin teh dots … what keyboard shortcut? I can always look @ work tomorrow - :p
i love it.
you’re a monster arthaus.
cJw, in OS X pressing the Apple+Alt+Ctrl+8 at the same time turns the screen to black & white. I think Windows has a similar feature (for accesibility) but I don’t know what the keyboard shortcut is. Anyway, by turning the screen into b&w mode the pattern disappears as they are all of a similar grey tone. Hence the chaos of losing the pattern or unifying the dots, depending on your perception.
bh, I never even saw the e, the pattern is based on the last image, well as close as possible anyway.
zdoob, cheers, and I hope that’s monster in a good way :)
hey those dot´s are moving around I swear it…
Gave it a four because the main reason was for the new kickass keyboard shortcut! I never knew that is cool as hell. And also I think it is a very simple image that you put alot of work into, so I like it.
Villi, that’s given me an idea of taking this into a more Op Art direction a la Bridget Riley or maybe even Escher like. Dunno how you feel about that tho.
Beerad, cheers, glad you liked the keyboard shortcut. I usually do it to work colleagues’ computers without them knowing and watch them freak out! Especially if it’s a brand new 30” Alu screen ;-)
That last image is great, perfectly executed…
This is a great image, particularly on how it relates to the theme.
Inman, You ARE difficult. Hey, if bharper is right, then he’s right.
Thanks guys! :)
“Gaze long into the abyss, and the abyss gazes into you.”
When I first saw this I thought “WOW, that’s a really nice image” but wasn’t sure how the order and chaoz came in. Seeing it again I find myself looking at it completely inversely, what was depressed and tunnel like are now spherical and popping out at me. There’s a nice optical illusion going on here.
I’m not saying this to be nice and you’re my conspirator etc, and I’m not saying the optical thing is perfectly executed either (as it doesn’t resonate as much as I’d like), but I’m surprised at the low score this image is getting. In my mind this is so much better than the first 3 imgs. Although not as good as img4 ;)
OH, and the Nietzsche quote really fits too.
I have to admitt that I have had some trouble during this Logue. I can´t seem to squeeze the best out of me here. I could say I have some external issues going on that are affecting my work. Or that I am just finding difficulty finding order in chaos it has to be one or the other for me…but I do think this is better than the first 2 images of mine but yes, something is amiss.
I don´t mind the score. Sometimes the only score that matters is the one you give yourself.
Chaos could not exist if not for order.
Neon, as ever, very philosophical :)
But it’s true what you say, and if I’ve interpreted it correctly, no matter how chaotic something is there is always order, or it is based on some form of order, like a method to the madness kinda thing. SOooo, maybe, if we were to concentrate on the chaos then the order will follow?
Villi, you’re right about the score, and maybe I was over reacting, the score in itself doesn’t matter, but I was taken aback to see img5 score lower than the first 3 when i clearly thought it was better. Anyhooo…
It’s not that it is a bad image, it’s just that it doesn’t seem to be all that connected to any thing that came before it. Doesn’t seem like part of the same set.
I would like to see somebody try and take on the concepts behind physics and quantum physics here. Both are trying to find order in the world, but one shows it too be full of choas while the other relatively static. Can’t get more to the root of this concept than that.
Sorry to put ideas in your mouth… I mean words in your head… well whatever. I would be dissapointed if you missed the opportunity to tackle this challenging side of your question.
Rev, there’s nothing to be sorry about. Sometimes it’s better to give feedback in any form, be it a crit of the img or possible avenues of research. I realise this is primarily a ‘logue’ between two people, but outside comments (agreeable or otherwise) can help too.
I’ve been wanting to do something based on the chaos theory, butterfly effect, heisenbergs uncertainty principle (ie schrödinger’s cat) and the whole quantum mechanics thing, etc and not wanting to make excuses, but I either found it obvious (first thing that came to me as I read a fair bit on the subject) or difficult to grasp and convey whilst trying to keep in line with the previous imagery/design, and I wanted to explore other ways one might see as chaos and order. Img2 for instance I was messing around with some freeware fractal generators and ended up using one that was least fractal like to see the outcome.
Anyway I talk too much, but I really appreciate your input, and anyone elses for that matter.
yeah, stop yapping and get on with the next pic ;)
And now for something completely different.

Cool idea there :) Great example of order in chaos.. sorry, CHAOZ.
Always knew your typing sucked ;P
I love it when a dsnlg’r does his homework. An A++ for you Arty.
Cheers Rev :)
not so cheers ‘fluff ;P
Fu*kin-A, Someone’s clever.. Love it
That mkaes me feel better cause thats how i write anyway..
