Starting with a simple image. I feel that this image is laying the track for what is to come. things are about to accelerate.

That’s a good start, Villi. I like the approach to the concept…

Villi

Thanks Bearskinrug. BTW think your website is great I loved feeding the bear, you´r a funny guy hehe

glorymachine

Moving along….

bharper

i like the first image the best so far… these second two dont have the rythm of the first..

bearskinrug

I disagree - the great thing about this designologue so far is that it’s not 3 pieces trying to outdo each other - it’s three pieces supporting one another. They’re using a lot of restraint to work with this theme and that’s very admirable…

tacosaurus

So what your saying essentially, is that Villi and Glory are in a sense lovers, harmonizing with one another in a visual mating ritual if you will. Bearskin your the greatest. Make love not war. Or make war like love. Love war like make not. make not war like love. Make me a sandwich.

bearskinrug

I’d make you a design=artisticretardation.com sandwich, but it’s your turn.

Hah! hi-five companions, headbutt

Villi

Do I smell Dino-droppings ;)

2one2

tacosaurus has been served the ultimate dino-bite dis.

call him out on his laziness.

bharper

i agree that the second 2 images dont out do the first.. but not in a supporting manner.. i think they are just un equal to the first and so there for dont overshadow it.. unlike the rythm designolog, wherein the images continued to get better and better each round..

glorymachine

Still using only vector but trying to take it to the next level. Hope I did not lose the feel of where we were going Villi? Tried to get a little more movement involved. Have fun with the next one….

ohsoquiet

I like the transition it just made.

bharper

yeah, this fourth one is on track. looks good!

tacosaurus

The lord cometh down the hill in a fiery whiplash-haps-laksidazical metaphorical whirlwind in an unprofunctory junk whip a.k.a blazin chariot and said FUCK YOU ALL. Tacosaurus breaks hundred year old church windows, then gently puts them back together. The lord has come to wreckon with the Tacosaurus. He cracks his bitchwhip on tha ass of the Ubermighty Tacosaur. Design=artisticretardation.com fistwich.

I can even dis’ myself bitch. Nobody makes a fool out of me, like me! Byatch! Fuck Me! Fuck the Tacosaurus! Bitch Ass Trick Hoe-A-Saurus if you axe me! That fool aint got the skill for a hand drill! He look like a thalidomide baby! Fuck the Tacosaur! Say Word! ZOMBO

Villi

Now I understand the importance of extinction.

inman

Zing!

creighton

Like this image a bunch. Really gives a new sense of depth and space to the series while sticking true to the theme.

Oh, and I think I want to have Tacosaurus’s baby.

Villi

The balls are right on track. ETA 5 minutes.

RevDrLuv

Strangely beautiful image. Very nice.

I think the feeling of “acceleration” is getting lost as this conversation progresses though. Especially with these last two. Maybe the theme should have been deceleration. :D

Villi

Nah. we´re just shifting gears. ;D Maybe the images accelerate your mind to envision beyond the mere 600x350 frame.

Villi

Thanks for the compliment Dr. Luv.

bearskinrug

Good follow up image, Villi…

jeromius

Man, and I thought I had problems.

Lay off the meth taco.

RevDrLuv

Ah I see. You are just reving it up to the redline and are about to dump the clutch. ;D Got to get it in the powerband first for some REAL acceleration.

tacosaurus

So you wanna’ be muh baby’s momma’. Get in line homeslice. Too much tail on my pallette. Yer gonna hafta’ wait.

glorymachine

Villi, Sorry for the delay. I have been swamped with work. I worked from 9am to 1am on Friday and then worked 8am until 1pm on Saturday printing a huge job for Walmart. Now that it is Tuesday, I am finally getting back to normal here. I will have something up soon…

glorymachine

Man, if we could only add sound to these things…..

I really dig on some good drum-n-bass.

Got my EQ dancing in the background. Still sticking to the spheres. Spheres have been used in so many sci-fi movies. They are cool no matter what to me. Also tried to stick with the same colors on this one. I tried to do a little reflective properties on my spheres still using Illustrator only. Tried to make it as if the entire area was being backlit by the EQ type design in the background. Good choice of green I must say Villi!

glorymachine

Crap! I see a mistake. I missed something. You gotta love that! Nothing I can do now….. :(

Did this one at work so I was a little rushed. Already got in trouble for doing these DSLNGs here before.

creighton

I like this one a lot, glory. And bravo on the reflective attempts….they work pretty well.

And I see the little mistake you made…has to do with shadows, doesn’t it?

A successful DSNLG none-the-less.

glorymachine

Ok, where the haters at?

I am feeling like Tacosaurus on the hating factor now. I am being voted right off the island now. What the crap?

Glorymachine blows the horn, “doo dooooo doo dooooo!” All the haters retreat! Fallback!!!! Mandown! I need a medic!!!!!!

No, for real, why is this image not fulfilling this DSLNG?

bharper

I think this image lacks COHESION.

inman

Why does everyone panic as soon as their image drops below 3?It’s near impossible to hold a 4 and you can cry at 1.5 or less. But the current rating (2.8 or so) isn’t bad. That’s like a high B.

bearskinrug

Is that a jab, bharper? Should I not post criticism anymore?

Glorymachine: One thing that I think is working against this image is that it’s not saying acceleration anymore. It’s a very static composition - perhaps more variation in the layout of the spheres? Or receding the EQ lines? They form an interesting pattern with the alternating light and dark - reminds me of vibrations…

glorymachine

I guess you are right inman. Thanks for the input. Kinda puts a different perspective on the rating thing…..

bharper - I thought that using repetition with the lines and spheres created a sense of balance not to mention the movement created by the lines in the background going up and down. I will admit however that the lines in the background may be too chaotic, but that is what I wanted to convey by using them. I felt like acceleration was best conveyed with choas. What better than chaotic drum-n-bass ripping through one’s head while one watches the EQ go insane? Thanks for the input though. Makes me feel better about my rating when I have a comment to go with it.

glorymachine

Bearskinrug - thanks

I did try variation with the spheres, but I though I lost some of the balance that I was after. Hmmm… This is great! Thanks for the input guys. It will help.

I promise that from now on if I rate an image I will put a comment on why I rated the way that I did. Honestly, I have not rated many of the images on Designologue. I felt like I could not rate the image if I could not say why I rated it the way that I did. That is only fair I thought.

Good Show!

bearskinrug

I hold off on rating stuff a lot, too, Glory. Especially since you can’t change your rating. As a matter of fact, I haven’t even rated your image yet. Better to see something and think about it for a while, get the author’s insight onto why they made their decisions, and then judge it.

RevDrLuv

There is a little chaos, but it is very orderly choas. Everything is very static and clean. Those shadows indicate that either the film used to capture the image was ultra fast or that the orbs are hovering stationary. The lines in the background are very static as well. The don’t look like they are jumping to a high RPM bass line as much as they look like a business graph charting stock market levels.

I like the composition, I just feel like the conversation has been moving away from the theme and not because of an evolution in dialogue. This and the shadow thing are the meaning behind the rating I gave you. And hey for having an admitted mistake like that, a score that is almost a three is pretty darn good.

Villi

yo Glory your forgetting one thing. Sending the vector file back to me ;) I´m like a midget with no feet without it.

glorymachine

whoops - I am sending it to you now….

Thanks Dr.Rev.Luv!

bharper

yeah, that was a jab.

you can comment and critique all you want. but its not constructive unless you explain. as you now know.

bearskinrug

You explained it yourself right after you asked what was incoherent about the image. But if you wish me to explain what I meant further, I’ll go post it in your designologue now.

Villi

Evil Sphere. Can you hear Ed Rush & Optical in the background hehe. I tried to make this image look like the sphere is somehow alive and about to transmute into something really evil and nasty! Hope I got that feeling across

20 years ago, April 18, 2003
bharper

this image gives me a mix of reactions.. in respect to the way this image fits in witht the rest of the log.. i think its nice.. it does seem like some evil raptor.. coming out to eat you.. but if i look at the image alone, i dont really like it. the colors are sorta muted.. and greyed out.. and its sorta cold and un natural..

tacosaurus

Villi, You be on some other shit dude. That looks like some mangled futuristic graffiti. But it looks mad techno, which lacks in credibility. I can’t spell to understand thunk what. Shit is HOT in a very awkward way. I like it, but I dislike myself for liking it so much. Congratulations. You just made me feel Good in the worst way. Hard thing to accomplish. I think the acceleration has gone into full effect.

Tacosaurus Dyslexed.

p.s. Glorymachine, I always vote FOURS for you baby!

creighton

To me it feels like the sphere is ripping through its environment, causing an unpredictable shift in all the elements…

However, it all still feels very freezeframe…and there actually isn’t any ‘direction’ in the image to imply any sort of acceleration (as we can plainly see in the first 3 imgs of this dsnlg).

Hmm…mixed feelings. Good image. Not much adherence to theme, though.

Aarseth

Well I like it. The last couple images were not accelerating.. Like they were stalled or something.. This is the frantic rush of the final stretch. The acceleration is back in full-effect.

bharper

maybe you should rename the theme:

de accalerate.

or:

slow motion.

glorymachine

Well, it may be a while before I can post another image. My computer at home no longer powers on, so, needless to say, I now have to order a new power supply and hopefully the motherboard is okay. If not, well, there goes another week or so. Just thought I would let you know that I will not be around these parts for a while. Work is too busy to get on. Plus, I have been busted before on here at work and they do not like it.

Later

inman

Wow, I know I’ve made a difference when Designologue is off limits at work! :D Here’s hoping your motherboard s’okay glorymachine.

bearskinrug

Villi and Glory, I’m wondering why neither of you have chosen to blur anything? It seems like a good way to get that feeling of movement. Was this a decision you guys made at the beginning?

I think this image is doing a great job of pushing the theme forward, but I think just some touches of blurring would enhance it.

How did you make this, Villi?

inman

I’m pretty sure they commited to an all vector DSNLG which is why they haven’t blurred anything.

bearskinrug

Ah - that would explain it…

Villi

That´s right. this DSNLG was done only by vector and in Illustrator. In my last image I did a whole lot af tweaking and skewing do aquire the desired look. You can do some funky shit in Illustrator if you put your mind to it :)

tacosaurus

No matter what they say Villi, its ILL. I get sick looking at it. Twisted in the worst best way.

Congratulations. Your vector skills are more than adequate. Tacosaurus Speks.

glorymachine

Villi,

It’s coming soon!

The end it drawing nigh.

glorymachine

vector shower on the horizon, incoming!

inman

Nice work guys. Sorry it’s so hidden away on the homepage.

glorymachine

Thanks Inman,

Really had fun on this DSLNG. Villi and I might strike up another soon? Stay tuned…

Beerad

Clicking around today… This is a strange designologue. It is great to see something like this. I don’t know, just a odd set, you don’t usally see.
